OUR STORY
Tailored Designs’ owner, Sara Scott, had a passion for interior spaces that started when her parents were building a custom home in her adolescence. Sara fostered that passion as early on as high school when a teacher offered to create an independent study class for her.
Now with a degree, certifications, accredations, and over fifteen years of experience, she hopes to bring clients the best design experience possible. Sara loves getting to know her clients, learning how their current space no longer works for them, and then creating a unique space that is truly tailored to them.

OWNER / PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
sara scott
Sara has always had a love for design and creating spaces that feel like home. She followed that passion to East Carolina University, where she focused on kitchen and bath design through a program accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).

After college, Sara began her career at a luxury kitchen and bath showroom, learning the ins and outs of custom cabinetry and the design details that bring a space to life. In 2011, she returned home to Charlotte to work as a designer and project coordinator at a local remodeling firm. For six years, she gained hands-on experience with space planning and managing the many moving pieces that make a remodel come together.

In 2017, Sara took a leap and started Tailored Designs, a name inspired by her daughter, Taylor—and by her belief that every home should be as unique and personal as the people who live in it.
OPERATIONS MANAGER
JONATHAN scott
Before stepping into the day-to-day operations of Tailored Designs, Jonathan spent twelve years building, growing and managing the Charlotte branch of his family’s forty-year-old coffee company. The experience instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, people, and the power of meticulous attention to detail. When the company sold in 2020, he carried those principles onto a new path—remodeling homes and creating spaces people truly love living in.

Now a residential general contractor with five years of remodeling experience, Jonathan is known for his coordination, commitment to quality craftsmanship, and dedication to clear, consistent communication. From kitchens and baths to full home renovations, he enjoys helping clients transform their homes in ways that reflect their lifestyle, needs, and personality.

Jonathan earned his B.S. in Accounting from UNC Wilmington, where he was also a pole vaulter on the track team. He later completed his MBA at Coastal Carolina University, where he coached pole vaulting as well. This unique blend of business acumen, discipline, and creativity shapes the way he approaches every project today—focused, intentional, and always tailored to the client.
