QUEEN CITY CONDO

Set high above Uptown Charlotte, this condo began as an open, airy space with incredible twenty-foot ceilings, but little flow or cohesion. The homeowner envisioned something bolder: a contemporary, industrial-leaning loft with a moody palette, custom details, and space to display their books and travel treasures.​

 

To unlock its potential, we completely reimagined the home. A new mezzanine level transformed the vertical volume, adding a bedroom, full bathroom, cigar lounge, sitting room, and lofted library overlooking the kitchen. Two-story bookcases and a sculptural spiral staircase anchor the design, balancing scale with the client’s need for storage and display.

Stained wood tones and black finishes repeat throughout for cohesion, while hidden doors, handle-less cabinetry, tall wine storage, and a built-in coffee bar add refined, unexpected luxury. In the primary bathroom, electromagnetic privacy glass that shifts from clear to frosted at the touch of a button and a spa-style shower elevate the experience.

The kitchen underwent the largest shift, doubling in size and showcasing black-stained oak cabinetry that reveals its natural grain. A leathered Negresco quartzite island with waterfall edges grounds the space, paired with a walk-in pantry and upgraded appliances.

From the large scale reeded millwork in the foyer to the quiet drama of the double-height library, every detail was honed through close collaboration with architects, builders, and artisans.

The result is an elevated, contemporary residence: luxurious, moody, and masterfully tailored for life in the heart of Uptown.
